Lake Mackenzie is stocked with fish by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department with the following:
In order to fish at Lake Mackenzie, fisherman must purchase the appropriate daily Fees (entry, boating, or Crappie House); in addition, the fisherman must possess a valid Texas Fishing License. Anglers fishing from a boat must meet all requirements of the Texas Water Safety Act.Lake Mackenzie provides opportunities for anglers to fish from the bank, fish from the Crappie House, or fish from a Boat. This 59 lb. Flathead Catfish (4 ft. long, 34 inch girth) caught by Larry Strickland of Happy (on left) on April 27, 2004. Assisting Larry with holding the fish up is Reed McDonald (on right). Larry caught the record cat from a boat, in 30 feet of water, with a rod and reel, with 20 lb. test line, using crank bait.
